A brief summary of what you do

A little bit of everything! I like to say I do all the jobs no one else wants, but in truth I feel I have the best job of all. I work with the whole team on projects and work alongside Tom and Adam to direct and grow the business. I deal with all things HR and Employment, IT, Finance and manage our distribution centre in the North.

Like all good family businesses, I’ve been working within the Company practically since I could walk. From sorting nails in the early days, to organising catalogues and packing door furniture. Like Tom, I grew up with my father (John Monaghan) running an architectural ironmongery business and knew from an early age if you had a spare hour you were utilised. When I left university, I went into HR and re-joined the family business in 2006.

Favourite project or client you’ve worked with and why

I can’t name a favourite project or client, there are too many projects to note and I leave clients management to the experts, but I do love to hear the details of the jobs that the team work on. Their enthusiasm and commitment to their projects is both contagious and inspiring. Over the years I have been so proud to hear the feedback that the team receive on their work and visit some of the incredible projects they have worked on. I am privileged to work with a team of people that show commitment, dedication and good humour every day. Tom and I are not just children born into family businesses we are lucky enough to have a team around us that create a whole new family. In my opinion it’s a very unique environment and one I am very proud to be a part of.

Your favourite product/finish?

It’s the bespoke finishes our rework department create that I love. Their ability to take one item and turn into exactly what our clients need blows me away every time.
