Designing a public sports facility which has high usage and is not always treated with a great deal of care is always a challenge.
For Barn Elms Sports Pavilion in Barnes, south-west London, a solution was required to provide a serviceable interior which could be maintained to exacting standards.
The interior was kept functional and simple with open block construction and powder coated steel door frames where the integral architrave ‘wraps’ each aperture. Monaghan doorsets were chosen for strength of fixing and ease of installation. Durable laminates face each door and the colours are matched across sports benching, clothing rails and sports bag storage so that each changing zone is clearly identified.
Since undertaking the Barn Elms Sports Pavilion project, we have completed many other sports facilities to similar high standards ranging from national cycling centres to 5-a-side football venues and swimming pools with exciting water park flumes.
